DOOL Gets a Boost
The latest Nielsen ratings show that Days of Our Lives is in first place for women aged 18-49. As viewers are aware, this hasn’t happened for several years. It is one of the four daytime soaps that are left on the air, so this is great news for fans.
DOOL scored a .39 rating while GH came next with a .38 rating. For women 18-49, The Young and the Restless was third with .28 and The Bold and the Beautiful was fourth with .20.
What About Total Households?
While Days of Our Lives got a little boost with women 18-49, that wasn’t the case for total households. The Young and the Restless scored 1.75, General Hospital ended with 1.70, DOOL had 1.44, and The Bold and the Beautiful landed 1.36.
New Airings vs Classic Episodes
While Days of Our Lives is airing brand new episodes each weekday, it is due to their advanced production schedule. General Hospital is still airing new episodes but has gotten creative to make them last.
The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful have already run out of new episodes. Y&R is airing classic episodes while B&B decided to do “theme weeks.”
Days of Our Lives: What Is Happening In Salem?
Right now, the NBC soap is focusing on the aftermath of the baby switch. Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) handed over Rachel Isabella DiMera Black (the May twins) to Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). However, the joy for “Bristen” was bittersweet. Kristen is facing attempted murder charges back in Salem and decided to flee with her baby.
This makes two children that Brady Black (Eric Martsolf) is separated from. As fans recall, Theresa Donovan (Jen Lilley) took Tate Black to California.
Meanwhile, Sarah will visit Maggie Horton Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) in prison. The matriarch just found out that she is responsible for killing her own granddaughter.
What do you think of Days of Our Lives getting a little boost in the women 18-49 category? Did you expect a bigger number for total households? Are you concerned about when new episodes for B&B and Y&R will begin airing again?

Days #s overall are down, they got boost because classic episodes have dropped.
I think they are stealing audience from the CBS soaps, and maybe some from GH because I have seen fans complain about the GH episodes being stretched out with flashbacks. Time will tell since at the end of next week GH runs out and will be showing only newer reruns (last four to five years) from what I understand. DAYS and GH have a lot of similarities so I can see them drawing the same audience demographic.
