Lani chose to save Eli’s grandmother and it was a long time before Eli learned the truth.

Days of Our Lives: Past, Present, and Future reveal that Eli proposes to Lani during the week of May 25. Even though they’ve been back together for some time, Eli had to get over his pain. He needed to know that he could trust Lani and she wouldn’t break his heart again.

However, Lani’s guilt could affect her answer to Eli’s proposal. Of course, she loves him with all her heart. However, Lani’s guilt has interfered with her life and those she cares about before. It could happen again.

Even though Kristen is Lani’s friend, the detective broke the law by helping her escape. Even worse, she took an oath when she got into law enforcement. With her recent actions, she broke the trust that people have in her. This isn’t just her department, co-workers, and superiors at the police department. She vowed to protect and serve the people of Salem and feels she betrayed everyone.

That’s not the only thing that’s weighing heavily on Lani, though. Days of Our Lives spoilers previously stated that Eli was willing to cover for her. She was ready to confess to Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering), even if it meant being arrested. However, Eli stopped her and said he loved her so much that he would do anything for her.

That would mean a lot in normal circumstances. But Eli violating his moral code to protect her crime might be too much for her to bear.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Will ‘Elani’ Get Married?

As far as we know, there are four couples with a marriage proposal storyline. Eric and Nicole, Justin Kiriakis (Wally Kurth) and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans), and Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal).

However, head writer Ron Carlivati teased May sweeps with CBS Soaps In Depth. He warned that just because there are multiple engagements, that doesn’t mean all of them will get married. We hope that Eli and Lani make it because they have been through enough. They deserve a little bit of happiness.
