Days of Our Lives Spoilers – How Did Marlena Evans Get Possessed?

Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that John has wondered if his attempts to drive the devil out of Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) this time haven’t been successful because he isn’t a real priest, or perhaps that’s why the devil returned! Longtime Days of Our Lives viewers will remember that the last time Marlena was possessed, it all started with something that Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) did. Stefano, obsessed with Marlena, gave her mind-altering drugs while she was asleep, then hypnotized her into a romance.

The mental, physical, and spiritual abuse aspects of this scheme made her vulnerable to demonic possession, and that is exactly what happened. Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that when Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) was first going to feature Marlena’s previous possession in the movie he was making, John wouldn’t allow it – and that was just when it was only a scene of Sami DiMera’s (Alison Sweeney) movie. Then Johnny got excited and changed it to become solely about Marlena’s possession, and that is when all the problems started! First the devil went into Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) and then into Marlena again, and she once again became MarDevil!

DOOL Spoilers – John And Susan Banks Nearly Died, But MarDevil Escaped And Escaped Again

Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that John, along with Susan Banks (Stacy Haiduk) nearly died before Steve Johnson (Stephen Nichols) found them in the DiMera crypt and rescued them! John had been chained to a pole nearly three weeks, and Susan was forced by MarDevil to kill John! Instead, Susan put the knife to herself, and Steve arrived just in time to save them. John and Susan were both hospitalized, with Susan being brought into the DiMera mansion in much worse shape than John, while Tony and Anna DiMera (Thaao Penghlis, Leann Hunley) called 911.

But MarDevil once again escaped, seeking refuge with Ben and Ciara Weston (Robert Scott Wilson, Victoria Konefal) convincing them that John was abusing her! John found her again, with Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) close behind, but she overcame them and Ben as well after Ciara escaped and went back to their home. Belle Brady (Martha Madison) then came to check on Ciara, who by that time believed that Marlena was possessed, and then Belle took off to the Horton Cabin and knocked MarDevil out with a rock, releasing her hold on John, Ben and Shawn but in the process getting away!

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – The Big Guns Are Called In

Days of Our Lives viewers will see that John will realize that only a real priest can exorcise the devil from Marlena this time, and Father Eric Brady (Greg Vaughan) is called in! Longtime Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that Eric had been defrocked after being raped by Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) but in the winter promo, he is shown with a clerical collar so apparently he’s been able to regain his priesthood. But even if he hadn’t, a priestly calling never leaves and he would be able to perform any function of a priest because of that calling, and that includes exorcisms!

Eric will be able to drive the devil from his mother, giving John a Christmas miracle, but then the devil just goes and finds himself a new home! Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that Steve will have someone else to find after Marlena is delivered from the devil, and Allie Horton (Lindsay Horton) will help him. His own son, Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams) will be missing! There’s a good chance that Tripp is the devil’s new familiar, or in other words, host!
