Days of Our Lives spoilers confirm the NBC soap is back in production, but it seems that some familiar faces are heading out the door. The latest actor rumored to be exiting the show is Galen Gering, who plays Rafe Hernandez. If Rafe leaves, how will he be written out and could he possibly return?

Days of Our Lives Galen Gering said in an interview with Cliff Dorman that he was returning to the set of Days for a little while but he isn’t sure for how long. According to published reports, Gering claims to be wrapping up Rafe’s storyline at the present time. Gering says he is going to finish up his Days role and then “spread his wings” as an actor.

Could Rafe’s exit be tied to Sami Brady’s (Alison Sweeney) visit this summer? Apparently, Alison is now taping her scenes so it seems his exit could coincide with Sami’s visit. Rafe has left town to help Sami with her kids before. Could Rafe be needed by Sami again? Has Sami given up on E.J. Dimera (formerly James Scott) return and reunite with Rafe? Rafe and Sami are close even though they have been divorced for years. Rafe loves Sami’s children. Now that there is no hope for a reunion with Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) could Rafe need a change of scenery? Will Rafe ever return?

Days of Our Lives Spoilers – Rafe Hernandez Leaving DOOL

Days of Our Lives Rafe came to Salem in 2008 as an FBI agent who was protecting Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). Sami was in the witness protection program. Of course, Rafe and Sami didn’t get along well but they got past that and were a great couple for a while.

Rafe has been with not only Sami but also Hope Brady (Kristian Alfonso) and Kate Dimera (Lauren Koslow). Rafe was also on the receiving end of Stefano Dimera’s (then Joe Mascolo) wrath. At one time Rafe was imprisoned at the Dimera mansion like so many others before and after him. Rafe was a step-father to Johnny Dimera (Aaron Kunitz) and Sydney Dimera (Berlyn and Brooklyn Baca).

Days of Our Lives Rafe fans will be sad to see Galen exit the show but of course wish him well in his future acting endeavors.  Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC at 1 p.m. Eastern Time
