It all boils down to Gwen not liking herself and taking out that self-hatred on someone she was jealous of, which in her case, was Abigail.

When Gwen got together with Xander, Jack wiped his hands of her. So, Xander was the only person Gwen had in her life. That made her obsessive and desperate to hold onto him. DOOL Spoilers – Xander Cook’s Second Choice

Ava and Gwen will have two goals in mind when impersonating Sarah in Salem. One is to protect Kristen, who has stashed Sarah on a deserted island. The other is to protect Gwen’s relationship with Xander. So, fake Sarah will probably break Xander’s heart all over again.

During the week of January 24, Xander decides to move forward with Gwen. Head writer Ron Carlivati told Soap Opera Digest that Xander proposes to her. However, it’s likely only because fake Sarah breaks Xander’s heart again. Will Gwen really want to marry someone if she’s not their first choice? She might in the beginning, but might come to her senses as the wedding day approaches.
