Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Hattie Adams And Roman Brady Do Have A Little History
Longtime Days of Our Lives viewers will recall that Hattie and Roman do have a little history, as a matter of fact, their friendship goes back about twenty years; she was working in a diner along with Nicole Walker’s (Arianne Zucker) mother Fay Walker (Valerie Wildman) and Roman got acquainted with her noticing how much she resembled Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall).
At that time, there was a television program in Salem that featured a psychiatrist, a Dr. Higley, who had been replaced by Marlena, and Hattie at first had been upset because she liked Dr. Higley but even she was shocked at how much she looked like Marlena! Roman and Hattie became fast friends. But Roman wasn’t the only one who was impressed with her resemblance to Marlena; so was Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo)! Stefano sent Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay) and his other henchman, Bart Biederbecke (Steve Blackwood) to talk to Hattie, and as a result, she was convinced to get plastic surgery to look exactly like Marlena.
Hattie then was fired from her job and she was so devastated she attempted suicide by trying to jump off a bridge, and Roman saw her and saved her. This was the beginning of Roman and Hattie’s friendship and also the beginning of Hattie doubling for Marlena – Rolf gave her etiquette lessons to teach her how to act and talk exactly like Marlena. Longtime viewers will also recall that when the character of Hattie was introduced to Days of Our Lives, she was played by Deidre Hall’s real life twin, Andrea Hall.

Roman has been very protective of Hattie, and dissuaded her from pretending to be Marlena in recent Days of Our Lives episodes. This gives Hattie the impression that Roman cares for her a lot more than he wants to admit, and she is going to confront him with what she perceives as romantic feelings for her! After all, she reasons – it makes a lot of sense for him to fall in love with her, Marlena’s spitting image – Roman was married to Marlena long before John Black (Drake Hogestyn) ever came along!
Of course, it is very easy for a romantic-minded woman such as Hattie to pick up every single person’s nightmare – mixed signals – and Roman might tell her she is doing exactly that and give her the dreaded answer of “I care for you only as a friend!” Plus, Roman is an old-fashioned, chivalrous man, and that might be why he is so protective of Hattie – like he would be over any woman; as the saying goes, “his mama and daddy raised him right!” An old-fashioned man doesn’t like to be pursued, either, and Hattie does come on just a little too strong!
