Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Head Writer Ron Carlivati’s Super-Fan Father Appears On DOOL

Head writer Ron Carlivati’s father, Ron Carlivati, Sr., has landed a gig on “Days of Our Lives.” He will appear as an extra in the episode that’s set to air on October 18.

“It’s funny because I’ve been in soaps for over 20 years and my dad would watch to see my name on the credits but rarely get into the show,” he told Soap Opera Digest. “Somehow, I don’t know what clicked in for him, he’s obsessed with DAYS OF OUR LIVES. He does not miss it.”

Carlivati recalled what led to his father’s brief stint on the show. He said they went to Los Angeles in March and at the studio, Albert Alarr, the soap’s co-executive producer, met his parents.

Days Of Our Lives News – Father Was Quick To Say Yes To The Appearance

Alar made an unexpected offer when he turned to Carlivati, Sr. asked him if he wanted to be in some hospital scenes.

“I honestly had no idea this was coming. I also fainted. I think this was something [Executive Producer] Ken Corday cooked up with Albert. I had no idea it was coming,” Carlivati said. His father was quick to say yes, and he was like “Where do I sign?” he said. Although he doesn’t have any lines, Carlivati, Sr. will be seen prominently on the said episode.

“And the next thing I knew, they’re whisking my father off, he’s filling out paperwork, they’re photocopying his driver’s license, putting him in a doctor’s coat, and my mother and I are just standing there watching it happen,” he recalled.

Carlivati, Sr. said it all happened so quickly. If the offer had come a day earlier, he’d have spent a lot of time thinking about what to do. He’s been watching the show every day and that’s why it’s not surprising  he’d been dreaming of this happening for a long time. Now that it is, he still can’t believe his luck.

He also added that he won’t be able to see the episode when it airs because he has a college reunion to attend. However, his daughter will tape it and they’ll watch it together once he gets back home.
