True, Ted’s a lonely guy, but with Hope being a married woman, and the two in public service positions working closely, that just doesn’t look good. A defense attorney could even use the closeness against them in criminal cases, citing an appearance of impropriety.
For quite some time, Hope’s husband, Rafe Hernandez, has noticed this closeness and has been disturbed enough to give Ted many warnings to stay away from his wife. A couple of times he even slugged him.

Days of Our Lives viewers won’t be surprised if Hope’s stern warning to Ted to stay away might be her request for space to fight off feelings or temptations she may have. She doesn’t want to go there with Ted and wants to preserve her marriage to Rafe.

She doesn’t want to encourage Ted in any romantic feelings or attractions he has for her, and some space would do both of them good to let things cool down a little. It might make Rafe back off a little as well if he knows that Hope had also told Ted to stay away.
