Ava was last seen on-screen in 2016 and it is the reason why Joey ended up going to prison. After he learned that Ava was setting up Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) to take the fall for her own attempted murder. In order to prevent this, Joey smothered Ava in her hospital bed while she was drugged up.
