Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: JJ Deveraux Injured – Will He Survive?

Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) will be injured in an upcoming episode.

As Days of Our Lives viewers know, JJ works as a paramedic for the City of Salem, and a paramedic is a first responder. A “first responder” means a professional trained to render aid, assistance, and in some cases, rescue at the scene of an accident, a natural disaster, a fire, or a crime scene. JJ, as a paramedic is trained in rescue and first aid, lifesaving, and medically nearly as much as a doctor, although he would not be allowed to perform as a doctor.

He would however, work under the guidance of a doctor to render certain types of aid, such as tracheotomies (making a hole in a person’s neck to serve as an airway if the person cannot breathe otherwise), delivering babies, and some other minor surgeries as may be necessary in the performance of a rescue. Police, firefighters, and search and rescue personnel are also considered first responders.

While the details of JJ’s injuries or how they come about have not yet been released by Days of Our Lives showrunners, it is possible that JJ may be injured on the job, during a rescue operation or some other paramedic function. It’s possible that he could be involved in an accident while on the way to or from a run.

This could certainly happen, since even though laws exist in every municipality that require motorists to pull over to allow emergency vehicles to travel through the streets unhindered. But many do not heed these laws and sometimes cause or are involved in accidents with emergency vehicles.

As a paramedic, he could also be called to the scene of either a crime or a fire to assist victims and transport them to Salem University Hospital, and he could be injured by a criminal, be caught in crossfire between Salem Police and a criminal while trying to render aid to a victim, or be injured trying to help a firefighter bringing someone out of a burning building! Any number of things could happen to cause JJ’s injuries.

While an on-the-job injury would be possibly a little more glamorous for a first responder like JJ, although no injury would be preferred, JJ could simply have something mundane happen, like slipping on a wet floor at Salem University Hospital or stumbling over something in the floor at home and spraining a wrist or ankle, or possibly breaking an arm.

He may not suffer a serious injury, although of course it will be much more soapy and dramatic if he does! Days of Our Lives writers could milk plenty of drama out of a seriously injured JJ when his parents are newly engaged and ready to remarry, and his sister and her family, Abigail and Chad DiMera (Kate Mansi, Billy Flynn) and their children are supposed to make an appearance about the same time as JJ’s injury.
