John Black (Drake Hogestyn) is married to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall). Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) is getting ready to leave town. Unless Salem suddenly gets some new male residents, the pickings are slim.

Abe was there when Vivian stole Kate’s embryo and carried her son to term. Abe knows Kate’s history from start to finish. Abe and Kate can readily joke about things that have happened in the past. Abe can be honest with Kate and she with him.

Both Kate and Abe’s children are grown. Kate isn’t as money-hungry as she once was. Kate and Abe are older and wiser and both should be ready for a no-nonsense relationship. As mature adults, Kate and Abe would be an interesting match.
