Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that after Vivian Alamain (Robin Strasser) sneaks into Salem University Hospital and tries to smother Kate Roberts DiMera (Lauren Koslow) to finish her off, that Kate will slip into a coma and by the end of the week, Lucas Horton (Bryan Datillo) must make a difficult decision!

The Days of Our Lives Fall preview released a couple of weeks ago shows Dr. Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) telling someone there is no neurological activity, and it’s possible this may be referring to Kate. If she remained without oxygen to her brain long enough after Vivian’s attempts to smother her to death, there could be enough damage to her brain to result in being brain dead, even though she was revived physically. No neurological activity is what the term brain death refers to! It also shows Lucas breaking down and weeping on Kayla’s shoulder! This could definitely be pointing to Kate being the brain dead patient!

DOOL Spoilers – Kate Roberts DiMera Will Go Into A Coma

Kate will slip into a coma, but how long it will be between Vivian smothering her with pillows and someone discovering Kate will be uncertain until the episode airs. In real time, Vivian’s attempt to finish her off will be on Monday but Lucas will have to make his difficult decision on Friday. But as Days of Our Lives viewers know, the sand in that hourglass goes really slow, and it could take a whole week for one or two days to play out, if not longer!

It looks like it will be up to Lucas alone, even though Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) sent Rex Brady, (Kyle Lowder) Kate’s other son, a text to call immediately! Perhaps Sarah should have put a little more detail in her text, such as, “YOUR MOM WAS SHOT” but since the actor has left the show, naturally everything will happen off-screen so viewers won’t see Rex show up at Salem University Hospital to make a joint decision with Lucas

Days of Our Lives Spoilers – It Sounds Like Lucas Horton’s Difficult Decision Will Be To Take His Mom Off Life Support

At this point, it sounds like the difficult decision that Lucas will have to make, likely on his own, will be to take Kate off of life support, and usually that suggestion is not made unless the patient shows no neurological activity in the brain, in other words brain death.

There has been nothing released by Days of Our Lives showrunners about Kate’s portrayer, Lauren Koslow leaving the show, so there will probably be some kind of last minute miracle that will save Kate’s life and bring her out of the coma – maybe even courtesy of Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (William Utay), since he will likely still be around the hospital somewhere! However, it will be a hard day for Lucas seeing both his mom and “Grandma Julie” Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) in dire straits, with his mom brain dead in a coma and Julie needing a heart transplant and being too old to get on a transplant list!
