DOOL spoilers reveal that Steve has listened to Kayla’s describing the events of the past year. He has also spoken with Justin, as well as Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford), Sonny Kiriakis (Freddie Smith), and John Black (Drake Hogestyn). It’s a lot for Steve to take in, but he makes a shocking decision about Kayla.

Steve tells his “sweetness” that she needs to be with Justin. That he adores her, cherishes her, and will always protect her. He has been the one to treat Kayla well, while Steve feels he has caused too much pain.

In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest, Evans explained that Kayla is “super-pissed” with Steve. Instead of allowing her to choose her romantic future, Steve made the decision for her. She is also heartbroken and emotional that 30 years together and a family has ended like this, In Kayla’s mind, she has been rejected.

This leads her to leave Steve’s hospital room as tears run down her face. Justin wants to know why she is so upset. So, she tells him that Steve rejected her, which makes Justin believe that is who she really wanted to be with.

It is interesting how Evans phrased Kayla’s decision. The actress didn’t tell the magazine that Kayla’s heart belongs to Justin now. Instead, she said that the doctor “thinks it’s best” to stay with her current partner.

That seems to imply that Kayla is listening to her head rather than her heart. While the following logic is best when making a lot of decisions, it’s never the right strategy when it involves love.
