As fans know, the couple previously lost a son, David Grant, who was stillborn. Having the same thing happen to the twins was a real concern for Lani throughout the pregnancy. Plus, Salem (and viewers) could use some happy news after a rollercoaster year.

According to the new issue of Soap Opera Digest, Eli and Lani have picked out names for the babies. The children are named after special people in the couple’s lives. The boy is named after Lani’s father and the girl is given Eli’s grandmother’s name. In a photo published in the magazine, Abe (James Reynolds) and Julie look thrilled to hold their namesakes.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that while it is a wonderful day filled with happiness, Valerie (Vanessa Williams) ends up getting disappointing news. We have to wonder if she was hoping the baby girl would be named after her and instead it was Julie. Even if Valerie is disappointed, she will understand and not let it spoil the joy of “Elani” having two healthy babies.

As for the joyous delivery, not everything will stay happy. Eli and Lani don’t know they are being watched by a mysterious person. This individual is very interested in the twin newborns. Eli and Lani are horrified to discover that the babies are gone. It is teased that Eli and Lani’s family will rally around them during the kidnapping story, even bringing in new faces to play Lani’s relatives.

“Knowing that we were planning to have this crisis with Lani and Eli’s babies being kidnapped, the focus would be on their family and that’s when I started to think, ‘Well, maybe this might be a good moment to bring Jackée [Harry, Paulina] into it and maybe she has some connection to the family.’”

The community also offers their support. In a previous issue of SOD, head writer Ron Carlivati teased that it’s not just two babies being kidnapped, but the babies of two police detectives. We have to wonder if this is related to one of their cases or related to a criminal that they put away. How long will Eli and Lani be without their babies? Who kidnaps them and why? We will have to keep watching the NBC soap to find out.
