DOOL spoilers reveal that nobody in Salem expected to see Philip. After years of being away, he suddenly turned up at the Kiriakis mansion. He didn’t check on his father when he had a stroke. He wasn’t there when Victor Kiriakis (John Aniston) was stabbed by Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). There’s been no contact and really, fans can’t blame Philip. Victor committed a major betrayal.

DOOL Spoilers: Money Laundering Scheme

It turns out that Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) had ulterior motives for his return to Salem. We soon discovered that he needed to use Titan in a money-laundering scheme. However, the one thing he wasn’t counting on was Xander Cook Kiriakis (Paul Telfer). He certainly was baffled by Victor making both men CEOs instead of just handing the title over to Philip.

Now, Philip has tried to get rid of Xander, but he somehow manages to get himself rehired. So, this is a major complication for Philip.

DOOL Spoilers – Heroes And Villains Not Always Obvious

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that we are about to find out the identity of Philip’s secret partner. The weekly promo clip suggested that it is Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun). While Philip would have a motive for wanting to get revenge on Victor, there might be more layers to this story. There is also how Philip and Ava crossed paths and why he would even agree to work with her.

Head writer Ron Carlivati teased to Soaps.com that the hero and villain in this story might not be as it seems.

“… there’s a lot of goodwill toward and sympathy for him [Philip] on the part of the audience. But at the same time, he’s done some pretty messed up stuff… you have to ask who’s the villain and who’s the hero in the Xander/Philip rivalry.”

Days of Our Lives Spoilers – A Heroic Act?

So, if Philip isn’t the real villain in this story, then why is he using Titan for money laundering? Why would he join forces with someone like Ava? Well, he could be forced to do it to protect a loved one. Ava might have something on him that could send him to prison. He could have a gambling addiction or perhaps some bad investments squandered all of his money, making him desperate.

Of course, it is probably more of a situation that falls in a gray area. To find out, we will have to keep watching!
