In an interview with TV Insider, Carlivati explained that this was not his first attempt to bring the idea of a daytime time jump to life. The head writer pitched the idea for One Life to Live when it was still on the air. He also thought it would be a great idea for General Hospital. However, for undisclosed reasons, it ended up not happening.
Ron actually wanted to do a fast-forward when he first came on board. However, the conditions weren’t quite right, so he was patient. Now the time has come to make his vision a reality as we leap into the future by exactly one year.

It is impossible to please everyone and that includes soap fans. While some viewers are excited about the possibilities, others haven’t warmed up to the idea. Carlivati explained that a time jump was a way to do a reboot on the daytime TV show. This could be good news for those that complain that the storylines are getting stale and being drawn out for too long.

Someone went to prison for pushing Jennifer off a balcony, but it wasn’t Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso). Also, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) is no longer living in town, so whatever happened with “Bristen” and the baby she was carrying?
Fans will have to keep watching the NBC soap opera to discover what the writers have in store for us. While the time jump is a huge change, perhaps it is just what was needed to revitalize the long-running daytime series.
