NBC Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) gone for the next few weeks, Salem will be left without a Police Commissioner. Mayor Abe Carver (James Reynolds) will need to appoint someone sooner than later. And his first choice may be none other than Shawn Douglas Brady (Brandon Beemer).

The truth is, Salem PD doesn’t have a very good track record in Salem. Bad guys continually getaway or make ridiculous plea deals. Abe may very well be looking to make changes to the department. And Shawn is very skilled at what he does. And now that Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) is out of the mental institution, Shawn and Belle Black (Martha Madison) may very well be looking to relocate to Salem on a permanent basis. But there are several threats to both Shawn and Belle that have also gathered in Salem.

Phillip Kiriakis (Jay Kenneth Johnson) has been a threat to Shawn and Belle’s marriage on and off for years now. Belle has said she has put Phillip behind her, but he’s back in Salem as well. Will Belle be tempted by Phillip once again? Phillip could easily try to get Belle back in his life, her marriage vows will likely not matter to Phillip. If he still wants Belle, he will go after her. And while Phillip could be a threat to them, there is also someone far more dangerous back in Salem.

As viewers know, Sami Brady (Allison Sweeny) recently had Jan Spears (Heather Lindell) released from a mental facility in order to get Jan to testify against Nicole Walker (Arianna Zucker) in the custody case for Baby Boy Horton. Jan’s obsession with Shawn once led her to keep him in a cage. She is dangerous on a good day. As long as she is in town, Shawn, Belle, and Claire could be on the receiving end of her vengeance at any time. So why would Shawn and Belle want to stay in Salem?

DOOL Spoilers – Claire Brady Has Made Salem Home

Claire has made it clear that she wants to stay in Salem. Shawn and Belle won’t want to abandon Claire now that she is home and starting to make a life for herself in Salem once again. They may want to stay around to keep an eye on her, as well as protect her from the likes of Jan. The Commissioner’s job would allow Shawn to protect both Claire and Belle and give Shawn and Belle the opportunity to be there for Claire.
