However, that was not going to happen unless Chad won a chess game.

It seems that even though someone else thinks they are Stefano, that person will have the patriarch’s memories, thoughts and characteristics. So, why does he care if Gabi has control? Because Stefano was always a bit of a control freak.

There is no way he would want someone other than blood handling DiMera affairs. The estate, mansion and company belong to Chad and no one else, and Stefano will make sure that he gets his way. Gabi has no clue what is coming and no matter how big her ego is, Stefano — or whoever thinks he is Stefano — will make sure she tumbles down.
