John and Steve later became partners in Black Patch. Drake’s loss has been a huge lost to the Days Of Our Lives family.

However, the soap world has lost several actors recently. “John Aniston (Victor Kiriakis) passed away in 2022. General Hospital and The Young & The Restless star Billy Miller died from suicide in 2023.

No one was prepared for Days star Drake Hogestyn’s death in September 2024.” Days will soon bid goodbye to Doug Williams (Bill Hayes).

DOOL Spoilers – Stephen Nichols Talks Days Renewal

Days Of Our Lives has been extended through 2026 and Stephen shared his thoughts with Michael Fairman TV, “What always comes up for me is I think it’s fortunate for us that we’re on a streaming platform now, because that’s where everything is going. The fact is, we brought 2 million viewers to Peacock right off the bat. Right out of the gate. So that’s a boon for us. I think we’re gonna keep going past 61 (seasons).”

Drake helped to write his character out of the show amid his battle with cancer. Nichols said, The memory of Drake inspires me to keep going, to keep fighting, to keep working hard. That’s his legacy.

Everyone you meet who knew him will say he was the hardest working, most enthusiastic, most kind person you’ll ever meet. “Now that he’s gone, I can honor him by trying to emulate those qualities.”

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Abigail Klein Worked With Drake Hogestyn And Shares

Abigail Klein, who plays Steve’s daughter Stephanie Johnson, praises Drake as well. “I’m just grateful to have known him, and to have worked with him even as short of a time as it was. I’ll forever be grateful for that.” Of course, John was pretty much Uncle John to Stephanie since Steve and John were so close.

Everyone on the Days set have shared precious memories with Drake and his baseball references. Of course, Drake was a baseball player until and injury forced him out of the game.

His striking good looks helped him to pick up acting jobs and he has played John Black for almost four decades. No matter how long people worked with him, he certainly left a lasting impression and he will be missed by all.
