Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Thaao Penghlis Returns – First Airdate Revealed

Viewers of “Days of Our Lives” have long been waiting for the return of Thaao Penghlis and Leann Hunley on the soap. Their wait is almost over! It’s been revealed that Leann Hunley is set to reprise her role as Ann DiMera. However, not much has been said about Penghlis. Now, fans of the soap are excited as Tony DiMera himself announced that his first airdate back on the sudser is on July 26, 2019.

He tweeted, “What a great evening we shared. Talking about what’s coming up in the World of DiMera’s this month. I think it a very provocative time. Who comes through that door on the 26th & what riddles we have to overcome? #Days #NBC #anna #love #mystery #fear #winning #cominghome”. But, fans need to tune in to know what his character’s storyline will be. Needless to say, it’s definitely going to be a blast!

It was back in May when the actor revealed that he and Hunley would be back on the “Days of Our Lives” canvass. He made the announcement after he walked the red carpet at the Daytime Emmys where he was nominated for Best Guest Performer. He posted on Instagram, “Thank you all from Leann and myself for your continued support. We had a great time celebrating ‘Days’ and its nominees. You will see us on the screen in July. But is it Tony or Andre?” During that time, viewers still didn’t know whether he was coming back as Toni or Andre DiMera. But now, it’s clear what character he’ll be playing upon his return.

Viewers may recall that Penghlis has been on and off screen since he first took on the role back in 1981 During this stint, he played both Tony and Andre DiMera. In 2009, Tony died after suffering a fatal injury during a fight with Philip Kiriakis (Jon-Paul Lavosier). His other alter ego Andre met his demise in 2018 when he was killed by Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi) in self-defence. Penghlis also appeared on “General Hospital” and “Santa Barbara.” He also guest starred in “Kojak,” “Cannon,” “Hart to Hart,” “Nero Wolfe,” and “Magnum, P.I.”
