They were not given the courtesy of any notice or even told that they were being written out of the NBC soap. Previously, Smith explained to fans that they only found out because of the limited number of scripts they received as well as the final ending. The actors actually had to confront a producer about it, who confirmed the news.

At the time, Smith and Alyssa Tabit, who is now his wife, did have a plan. They wanted to relocate to Florida to be closer to family. They wanted to start their lives together and create a family of their own. Of course, the pandemic and being written out of the soap moved up those plans.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that fans want to know if “Wilson” will ever return. At one time, Massey made a brief appearance. However, Smith was not with him. The actor explained in a segment of The Freddie & Alyssa Show that he’s taken a lot of time to think about if he would ever return. He adores and appreciates his fans, so he doesn’t feel that it’s fair to give them false hope. Unfortunately, even if Smith were asked to come back, he would turn DOOL down.

“A couple months ago, I did make the decision for ourselves, our futures and everything that if Days were ever to call – I know this is going to be disappointing to so many of you – but I would not go back.”

DOOL Spoilers – Letting Go Of Sonny Kiriakis

Smith added that he does have a bit of guilt about it. He is aware that “Wilson” had a big impact on some viewers. At the same time, he doesn’t believe in having one foot in the past and the other in the future. It has to be one or the other and for Smith, he has chosen the future.
