Days Of Our Lives Star Chandler Massey Opens Up About Weight Struggle

Days Of Our Lives Star Chandler Massey Opens Up About Weight StruggleChandler Massey, also known as Will Horton in “Days of Our Lives,” opened up about his weight loss struggles after he left the soap in 2014. During his two years off-screen, he shared that he had gained a lot of weight due to binge eating. In his Instagram post, he shared a side by side picture of himself from 2016 and one from this year.

“The left picture is me in 2016, 191 lbs & 30% body fat. I had been off Days for 2 years, and had utterly let myself go. I rationalized my lifestyle by telling myself that once I started working again, I could easily shed the weight & be ‘camera ready’. The next year, I got the chance to prove myself right. Will Horton was back baby, and he was going to be lean, mean, & better than ever. But there was a problem. The fat that I had assumed was going to melt off my body like butter on a hot pancake refused to leave.” During that time, he tried different kinds of diet without any success.

He said, “If you watch Days I’m sure you noticed I looked different the 2nd time around. There was a reason they gave @mrchristophersean [Paul Norita] the shirtless scenes while I chilled in plaid flannels. Some nights after crushing a box of lucky charms I told myself that this was just the journey of getting older. I was never going to be fit again, so why continue this pattern starving & binging, of quietly throwing up in the kitchen sink after my roommates fell asleep & trying to slap some willpower into me.”

Massey eventually managed to turn things around. Although he can’t really pinpoint when the turning point was, he said he learned a lot from every failure he had to face. He realized that it didn’t matter how many fad diet he tried. His chance of losing weight was minimal. He had to take a closer look at his relationship with food. He then realized that his unhealthy eating habits were brought on by negative emotional states. He had to learn how to deal with such emotions and finally saw that food was a tool and not a quick fix for his emotional issues.

However, Massey admitted that his journey towards having a healthy body and eating habits was not easy. There are days when he fell off the bandwagon. However, “after each step backward I manage to forgive myself and take 2 steps forward. The picture on the right is me yesterday. I now weigh 160 lbs & have 12% body fat, reaching a goal that I wrote on my bathroom mirror 3 years ago. I’m not ashamed of the person on the left anymore, but damn am I proud of the man on the right,” he explained.

Massey’s stint in “Days Of Our Lives” has helped boost his career. Due to his excellent portrayal of his role, he won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for three consecutive years (2012-2014). He was the first actor who earned a Daytime Emmy Award for portraying a gay character. Last year, he received another nomination for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor.

Didn’t see any before & after pics in this article… But good for him for figuring it out! I don’t know how tall he is, but 160 seems awfully skinny… But if he’s short, then it’s a great weight… Just glad he’s not purging anymore. THAT’S unhealthier than carrying a few extra pounds…
