How Will Chad DiMera Leave DOOL? Here’s Everything We Know So Far

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Billy Flynn just confirmed he is leaving the soap, where he played Chad DiMera for a decade.

Right now, Chad is just starting a love connection with Abigail DiMera’s (last played by Marci Miller) impersonator, Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord). Well, there is still lots of time for Cat and Chad to fall in love, and for something to tear them apart. So, let’s get started talking about the possibilities!

Billy Flynn’s Exit Announcement

In a shocking turn of events, right after celebrating 10 years playing Chad, Flynn announced he was leaving. Not only is Billy leaving the soap, but he’s joining The Young and the Restless in a mystery role!

The actor is leaving on good terms with the Peacock production. In fact, fans will continue to see Chad in Salem well into 2026 due to the soap’s advanced production schedule.

Ken Corday’s Statement

Then, executive producer Ken Corday released his own statement. In that, he wished the actor nothing but continued success and happiness.

Corday then added that he would be “missed in Salem.” While he might have just been talking about the actor, maybe he was speaking of the character as well. 

“We support Billy as an actor and friend, and wish him nothing but continued success and happiness, personally and professionally. He will certainly be missed in Salem.”

Josh Griffith’s Connection

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Y&R head writer and executive producer Josh Griffith actually wrote for Flynn at DOOL from 2015 to 2016.

So, he knows the character of Chad very well. It also means that he knows what Billy excels at with acting, and what kind of character and storylines will make his Y&R character shine. 

Griffith told the publication, “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we look forward to welcoming Billy to the show. He will be a wonderful addition to Y&R’s stellar cast.”

How Will Chad DiMera Leave DOOL?

Back to Chad, how will he leave? A recast is possible but it’s hard to fill the shoes of long-time soap characters. Fans are not gentle or forgiving, making recasts a really risky choice. It’s still possible, though.

However, Flynn has talked about Abigail being the love of Chad’s life in interviews in the past. Chad still seems to be unable to move on from Abigail, although he has tried. While Chad does seem interested in Cat, could he actually leave Salem on another note?

Maybe Chad will get clues that Abigail is really alive and in trouble, sending him on a worldwide search. Hey, it’s happened before – with EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney). 

As Flynn’s exit date gets closer, more information will be released.
