In fairness to Carlivati, he took a swing on a new idea which is something he must be applauded for.
Days has long been celebrated for its bold storytelling, weaving in complex plots filled with romance, betrayal, and even the supernatural. Where other soaps prefer to stay much more firmly rooted in reality (or as close to at as any soap can).
Days has always been much more willing to take risks and straddle the line between fiction and reality for the residents of Salem.
(This is the show in which a woman was buried alive for weeks, multiple characters have been possessed by the devil, and an entire community of people were “murdered” by a serial killer only to wind up in an alternate Salem!)

DOOL Spoilers – Ron Carlivati’s Risk Doesn’t Pay Off!
Unfortunately, this risk didn’t seem to have the payoff Days was hoping for. Most fans admit to skipping through the scenes involving the storyline if not skipping the day’s episode featuring scenes from it altogether.
It’s safe to assume viewers are eagerly awaiting the conclusion of this storyline. But that being the case, many are now left speculating: how will Days of Our Lives wrap up the Body and Soul saga?

With any luck, Carlivati went out with a bang….literally. A good murder mystery is always a good for ratings and a way shake things up. It’s a chance to revive some older characters and even possibly bring back new ones.

Perhaps the show will end with the untimely death of a key player, rendering the show unable to continue. One of the show’s stars? A producer? Its director? Just as long as it’s not the writer. If we lose Leo (Greg Rikaart) there’s no reason to watch anymore!

Or maybe the show’s demise will have something to do with the whereabouts of the real Abigail Deveraux DiMera. What if Leo starts receiving pages of story slipped anonymously under his door with a new story idea for the show.
Imagine the shock and awe if the author turned out to be none other than Abigail, who had been alive all along, living as a new DID personality, completely unaware of the trauma she experienced at the hands of Clyde (James Read).
The show’s connection to Abigail and her “murder” is too big a scandal for even Stephanie’s (Abigail Klein) PR team to salvage leaving Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Abe (James Reynolds) no choice but to pull the plug.
DOOL Spoilers – Body and Soul Is An Alternate Reality!
Or maybe, they are planning to pull out all the stops with this one. Perhaps what we will find is that Body and Soul was all part of a larger, more insidious plan. Perhaps it wasn’t really even Kate or Abe’s idea at all. Maybe they aren’t even the real Kate and Abe!
Maybe this was all a psychological experiment. A Truman Show-esque approach with hidden cameras, scripts, and deliberate plot lines fed into the show to manipulate the people thinking they were producing a real show! The goal? Revenge. Psychological manipulation. Or even controlling the town’s fate for personal gain. The mastermind?
Someone known for intricate plots and power plays—Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) or even a figure thought to be gone, like Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis). The reveal could unfold dramatically in the final episodes with Steve (Stephen Nichols) or Rafe (Galen Gering) uncovering a hidden lair where the show is filmed and manipulated.
This revelation would lead to a race to expose the truth before Body and Soul could script an event that would change the town forever—something catastrophic that only the show’s mastermind could prevent.
However it ends, we can only hope it will be worth having to endure the months and months the story has dragged on. One thing we know for sure is that Days of Our Lives is a show that has never been afraid to push the boundaries of daytime drama.
So, as we wait with bated breath for the end of Body and Soul, we can remain confident that Salem will once again prove why it remains a town full of surprises, resilience, and stories that transcend time.
