Days of Our Lives Spoilers – Zoey Burge Is David Ridgeway’s Paternal Aunt
Zoey is David’s paternal aunt, has a child of her own, and makes plenty of money as an attorney and can provide her nephew with a stable home. Rafe, as the Salem Police Commissioner, also makes plenty of money and can provide David with a stable home as he has for over a year and a half now since retrieving him from his mother, Jordan Ridgeway’s (Chrishell Stause) friend’s home in California.
At that time David’s birth father was not known nor any other paternal relatives since Jordan had not wanted anyone to know, and it turned out it was for very good reason. Jordan had her problems, but at least she was a good mother to David. Family courts generally favor the mother or another female relative over a male, especially a single male with a dangerous job, even though Rafe is behind the desk more than he is in the field as a police commissioner. This is what Justin Kiriakis will explain to Rafe.
DOOL Spoilers – Rafe Hernandez And Justin Kiriakis Try To Form A Plan To Keep David Ridgeway
Rafe and Justin try to form a plan to keep David with Rafe; however, that may be difficult. Pointing out that with Zoey, a murderer, Christian Maddox (Brock Kelly) and a dangerous criminal, Milo Harp aka Orpheus (George Del Hoyo) could have access to the baby because of family ties may not work, because the court could cite Gabi Hernandez DiMera’s (Camila Banus) criminal record and that she could have access to the baby through Rafe as well – so that is probably not the best defense.

Even though Rafe only had one problem with the adoption going through, and that was Evan’s background check, the court could spin that against Rafe and overlook his exemplary record of care of David. Rafe suggests a background investigation of Zoey, although he kind of hates to because if something really bad turned up, she could lose her own child – and Rafe would hate to be the cause of that.
Justin says likely a background check wouldn’t turn up anything or she could not have been approved for the practice of law by the bar, but he could try. Rafe doesn’t want to let David go, but Justin warns him he may have to if he can’t swing the family court judge in Rafe’s favor.

Rafe asks would the outcome be the same if either he wasn’t single or he hired a fulltime female nanny, and Justin wants to know where he’d get a wife in such a hurry, which Rafe agrees he has a point, but a nanny isn’t the same.

Rafe says there has to be something – some legal precedent that Justin could refer to in court. Justin reminds him that precedents are for criminal courts, not for family court, which is a civil court. Justin will do his best, but he can’t make any promises.
