Days of Our Lives Spoilers – Vivian Alamain Is Back!
But always the overachiever, Vivan is not satisfied coming home merely to wreck havoc on Stefan’s life. She also plans to muddle in Philip’s (John-Paul Lavoisier) as well. This time, however, her surrogate son, may not mind his “birth” mom’s meddling.
Rumor has it the former Mrs. Kiriakis is part of Philip’s master plan to take Titan back from his cousin-turned-brother, Xander (Paul Telfer) and stop him from giving it to Kristen in exchange for the cure to Sarah’s (Linsey Godfrey) paralysis.
DOOL Spoilers – Days Is A Pioneer In The Women’s Movement.
Sadly, Vivian is only in Salem for a short spell but we’re glad to have her for however long we can.
While Hollywood is slowly starting to catch up with the times when it comes to showcasing not only strong female characters but unlikeable female characters, soaps have been doing it for more than half a century.
The soap opera genre, and Days of Our Lives in particular, were at the forefront of the movement to feature compelling, female driven storylines. Their cast of mutli-dimensional villainesses thoughout the decades have been a huge part of keeping that movement going.
Days of Our Lives Spoilers – Vivian Alamain Stops At Nothing To Extract Her Revenge!
And Vivian Alamain stands out as a quintessential soap opera villainess, with a legacy that continues to resonate with fans of the genre. Vivian first arrived in Salem in 1992 on a quest to take over the Alamain Corporation.
She has since been involved in numerous dramatic and outrageous storylines that have captivated audiences. She kidnapped Carly out of jealously for her relationship with Victor. She blackmailed Jennifer, threatening to expose her past indescretions to Jack and hurt her family if Ms. Devereaux didn’t do her bidding.
She faked her own death in an attempt to frame Kate for it. She stole Kate’s embryo so she herself could be pregnant with Victor’s child (a move Kristen would replicate years later with Theresa). And most infamously, she buried Carly alive!
Vivian is often regarded as one of the greatest soap villainesses, a title she absolutely deserves. Louise Sorel brings a complexity to the character that has resulted in some of the most memorable performances in the show’s history.
Her motivations often stem from a mix of love, revenge, and ambition, making her relatable despite her villainous actions. Vivian’s zany and often campy antics mixed with her over-the-top schemes and dramatic flair have endeared her to fans for more than 30 years.
DOOL Spoilers – Louise Sorel Created A Legend
It’s should come as no surprise Sorel has won 5 Soap Opera Digest awards for the role – 3 for Outstanding Female Scene Stealer/Showstopper, 1 for Outstanding Supporting Actress and 1 for Outstanding Villainess!
Her portrayal of Vivian Alamain has left a lasting impression not just on Days but on the soap opera genre as a whole. Her return to the show over the years in various story arcs have cemented her status in soap opera history.
We love to hate her. She’s a part of our family. That crazy aunt who you never want to get stuck sitting next to at family parties. And we can’t wait to see what this return to Salem has in store for us all!
