Long before B&B, Don Diamont was on another soap that is still on the air today. His acting resume lists Days of Our Lives as his first credited role. In 1984, he was cast as Carlo Forenza and portrayed the character for a year. After 34 episodes, Diamont was named “Best Newcomer.” However, in an ironic twist, Diamont told Soap Opera Digest that he was fired that same week!
“Yes, I was voted ‘Best Newcomer’ and fired in the same week.”

The actor landed several notable gigs after DOOL. Some of these included Baywatch, Burke’s Law, Country Justice, Diagnosis Murder, and Anger Management. Then, he snagged the role of Brad Carlton on The Young and the Restless.
After that, he was cast as the iconic Bill Spencer aka “Dollar Bill” on The Bold and the Beautiful.

As many fans know, the character of Bill was created with Diamont in mind. During the magazine’s interview, the actor talked about being told about the part.
“… Brad [Bell, executive producer] was my champion. Truly. He created Bill Spencer for me, and he told me he had a lot tied up in it. He really wanted this character to be successful, so I came out with guns blazing to have Bill be everything he wanted and more.”

The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful are sister soaps and both air on CBS. Many of the actors have appeared on both Y&R and B&B. Tallying up Diamont’s parts on both soaps, that means he has been a member of the CBS soap family for a whopping 35 years!

That is really impressive, especially since fans still love seeing Diamont on their television screens. Diamont admits that even he finds the accomplishment extraordinary, especially in the entertainment business. While he admits the daytime genre does have some long-lasting characters, he still feels grateful.
“I’m still standing. I’m a survivor. I’ve seen them come and go, and I’m still here. I’m enormously grateful to Bill Bell, Sr. and Lee Bell, of course, and Brad. My gratitude to them is eternal. To work for such extraordinary professionals that are also good people? What more could you ask for?”
