Where Is Days Of Our Lives Going With Body And Soul?

Days Of Our Lives fans are not loving the soap within a soap narrative of “Body and Soul”. What started off as a cute love letter to the genre ran its course almost as soon as it began. Now it’s become that whiny ex who keeps asking for one more chance without making any effort to show they can do better.

Thus far, the storyline to revive the fictional defunct soap has served little more purpose than to give a few Salemites career opportunities for which they have no education or experience, provide Deidre Hall a chance to show off her gross inability to play multiple characters, and give fans more Leo shenanigans. (Okay the last one I am always in favor of, no matter how we get them!)

But Ron Carlivati, liked him or not, has always been good at twisting the plot when you least expect it.

Since his storylines will be continuing to air until April 2025 when new head writers Paula Cwikly’s and Jeanne Marie Ford’s work will begin making its way to air, we know this story will be following his direction for at least another 6 months. So what direction is that?

DOOL Spoilers – “Body and Soul” Mirrors Real Life Daytime Drama

Since the fictional soap serves as a form of art initiating art it would be great to see it swerve just slightly and do a bit more art imitating life. Carlivati admitted in a recent interview that Leo’s turn as head writer of “Body and Soul” was modeled after himself.

It would be a bold yet somewhat satisfying move to have Leo write storylines that mirror some of the real-life behind-the-scenes drama that has been taking place at Corday Productions.

We’ve already had a glimpse of this with Bonnie’s contract negotiations. Now it’s time to up the ante. Maybe a sexual harassment suit?

Alright that might be a little too meta for the producers of the real soap. But it would be a nice pay out for the audience who’s had to stay awake through the tired story this entire time!

Or perhaps Carlivati had something else entirely in mind. Something a little more “soul” crushing. (Sorry! I couldn’t resist!) What if “Body and Soul” becomes a sort of play book for some disturbed madman (or woman) and they begin recreating scenes from the show in Salem.

We know Connie is a big fan of true crime podcasts. What if she becomes hooked on a not-so-true killing spree featured on the “show” and uses it as inspiration to wreck havoc on a wave of victims across town?

Could it even be that the soap that never should have been is somehow connected to Abigail’s disappearance? Is it possible the Greene family were involved in the original production that was canceled?

Perhaps they canceled the show due to lack of funding and now that they see it’s being resurrected, want to buy it back.

The only people the Greenes can think of with the kind of cash to make the offer are the DiMeras. So what better way to get their hands on DiMera money than pass one of them off as a presumed dead DiMera!

Whatever the direction, let’s just hope they get onto it soon! It’s getting harder and harder not to fast forward through these scenes!
