First, Beyond the Gates shattered history books as the first soap opera to hit the airwaves since 1999, and now there’s news that Procter & Gamble (P&G) is backing a new daytime drama-inspired micro-series called “The Golden Pearl Affair”. CTS has the scoop, so learn more about this exciting development below.
New Soapy Fun
According to The Locher Room Facebook Page, P&G is all in for 50 episodes of “The Golden Pearl Affair”, a micro-soap crafted for social viewing and mobile fans. It’ll offer tantalizing “bite-sized” shows that will bring the drama, intrigue, adventure, and fun to viewers’ cell phone screens!
This is far from the traditional way of bringing soap storylines to fans’ television screens; however, many daytime drama fans often don’t watch their favorite shows on TV anymore, with mobile and tablet devices becoming a go-to source to gain access to their soap operas.
After all, Days of Our Lives’ (DOOL) move away from cable and jump to the streaming service, Peacock, is one example of how soaps are moving away from the “old way” of doing things.
P&G’s Sponsorship Of Beyond The Gates
Soaps were originally developed to sell, well, soaps. P&G was one of the first sponsors of daytime drama shows when they first hit the airwaves. Currently, P&G backs Beyond the Gates in this regard, and the show is very well known for its Procter & Gamble product placements.
In fact, P&G products take center stage in storylines, as characters spray Febreze into the air before parties and important meetings; ensure to have the dishwasher ready with Cascade tablets; and laundry is a thing, with Tide hitting in the basket and ready to go.
Fans should expect a little of the same when it comes to “The Golden Pearl Affair”, hitting smaller screens sometime soon!
