General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Ryan Paevey is returning to the ABC soap this month. During his first stint, which began in 2013, he portrayed Detective Nathan West.

1) Nathan & Maxie Were Relationship Goals

Nathan debuted as a love interest for Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms). Naturally, fans are delighted to hear that Paevey is returning and most are rooting for Nathan to rekindle this flame. There’s just one problem: Maxie is hot and heavy with Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson).

2) Nathan’s Family Background is Murky

Nathan came to PC to learn more about his estranged brother-in-law Silas Clay (Michael Easton) who was a suspect in the attempted murder of his comatose sister Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros).

In 2014 acting vet Donna Mills was cast as Nathan’s snooty mother, Madeline Reeves. Unfortunately Nathan had to arrest Madeline as the real culprit!

3) Nathan’s Bio Mom

Madeline’s arrest led to some startling revelations. It was discovered that her estranged sister, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), was Nathan’s biological mother. After Madeline confessed that Nina was actually alive, Nathan and Nina reconnected.

4) Nathan & His Sister Britt

Britt Westbourne is Nathan’s sister and she returned to the show this month after being presumed dead. Before he discovered his true parentage, Nathan almost slept with Britt!

5) Nathan’s First Marriage

In 2016 the show revealed that Nathan was once married to a woman named Claudette—a big secret he kept from everyone. That same year Maxie and Nathan become engaged.

6) Nathan’s Drugged Confession

After Nathan was shot in 2016 he was heavily sedated. During this ordeal he called Maxie “Claudette.” When Maxie asked Nathan who Claudette was, he lied and said it was his dog!

Long story short, Nathan later admitted that Claudette is his ex-wife but he forgets to mention that he shot the lover she was cheating with!

7) Nathan’s Fake Daughter

Claudette caused her share of trouble and claimed that Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) was his daughter. It was later revealed that Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is Charlotte’s bio dad.

8) Nathan’s Marriage Was Never Annulled

Nathan and Maxie eventually get back to planning their nuptials when he discovers that his marriage to Claudette was never annulled. Big oopsie. When he and Maxie go to Canada to find Claudette they discover that she’s dead. Problem solved.

9) Maxie and Nathan Finally Marry

Maxie and Nathan finally marry in 2017 but their anticipation of their first baby brings about another surprise …

10) Nathan’s Dastardly Dad

… it turns out that Nathan’s bio dad is infamous criminal Cesar Faison (Anders Hove). Nathan was forced to rescue Maxie after Cesar kidnapped Maxie. Unfortunately Cesar shot and killed Nathan; later his child was born and named James.
