The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has announced that the proverbial Los Angeles show will go on in 2021, much like it did in 2020.
Next year’s 48th Annual Daytime Emmys will resemble this year’s virtual ceremony as NATAS has made it clear the pandemic is still influencing television production plans.

Adam Chase, NATAS, President and CEO announced, “We at the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences stand in awe of and gratitude for your resilience in the face of what has been — and continues to be — one of the most challenging times in the history of the television industry.”
“This awful pandemic has taken from us cherished friends and loved ones, left many more without meaningful income, and forever transformed how we think about our workplaces and public gatherings.”
“Like many of you, we hunger for a return to some semblance of normalcy. The latest news on multiple vaccines nearing approval is promising. For NATAS, it is an encouraging sign that the ultimate ‘normal’ — a return to in-person ceremonies — may be on the horizon.”

While a return to normal is the most desirous option, NATAS will stick with its virtual format for its 2021 ceremonies, which includes the 48th Annual Daytime Emmys.
According to the organization, a proposed calendar for the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is as follows: a Call for Entries on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, and a Final Entry Deadline of Wednesday, February 17, 2021. The Nominations Announced event would be in May/June 2021 with the Virtual Ceremonies in June/July 2021.
The group also announced that it is considering the possibility of running the Daytime Emmy show over two or possibly three nights. Possible dates include Friday, June 25, 2021, Saturday, July 17, 2021, and Sunday, July 18, 2021.

Looking ahead to 2022, we’ve already started booking venues and can’t wait to welcome you back in person!”
