5 Reasons ‘General Hospital’ Needs More Cassadine Family Members in Port Charles

5 Reasons 'General Hospital' Needs More Cassadine Family Members in Port CharlesCBS General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal The Cassadine Family has wreaked havoc in Port Charles for decades. However, now that the Cassadine family has dwindled down to a couple of Cassadines and a wannabe. Port Charles needs more Cassadines and here are five reasons why.

#1 Cassadine Drama Is A Must

General Hospital’s Cassadine family has always been one of the most backstabbing families in Port Charles. Matriarch Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) has no use for any of her family if she cannot control them. Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) can attest to this since Helena has had him institutionalized more than once because she was unable to control him. Nik needs another Cassadine in Port Charles to have any drama at all.

#2 Valentin Was Supposed To Be Evil

General Hospital’s Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was supposed to be the evilest Cassidine alive. Helena was supposed to have been afraid of Valentin herself. Valentin gave Nik competition. Valentin may have been a bad Cassadine but he was more like Helena and Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos) than any Cassadine that has been onscreen. Valentin is not necessarily evil, he simply will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Valentin should have remained a Cassadine because he earned that title and is a competition for Nik.

#3 Cassadines Are The Best Villains

General Hospital’s Cassadine family have been great villains. The Cassadines don’t have to drug people to sleep with them. The Cassadine’s don’t have to start a cult. The Cassadine family has stolen babies, faked paternity tests, tried to take over the world. The Cassadines are true villains and that is what General Hospital needs. Fans do not enjoy sexual assault on top of sexual assault. Fans want villains who go after companies, money, their enemies’ lives. Fans want villains that we can love to hate, not just hate, and want dead.

#4 Who Will Carry On The Family Name?

Almost every Cassadine on General Hospital has been killed off the show. The only person left on GH to carry on the family name beside Nik is his son Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Bechtel). Spencer is flighty and is likely to get himself killed by some of the stunts he pulls. With Spencer being the only male heir so far, who is going to carry on the Cassadine name? If something happens to Spencer, the Cassadine line ends unless there are some unknown Cassadine heirs out there.

#5 The Cassadines Are Essentially A Legacy Family

General Hospital’s Cassadine family has been on the show since 1981. With decades of air time, the Cassadines should be considered a legacy family. Fan bases are attached to characters that they enjoy on soap opera and too many important families are being erased to make room for others. The Cassadine family is important to GH history.

General Hospital’s Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and her daughters are a part of this legacy as well. However, where would the Cassadines be without the Cassadine name? The history of our soaps needs to be preserved for future viewers and that certainly includes the Cassadine family.
