Big Schedule Changes

GH spoilers reveal that as previously reported, the ABC network will be getting creative in order to prevent running out of new episodes. For his particular soap, that means only airing new episodes from Monday to Thursday afternoons. Each Friday, expect an encore episode along with an introduction from one of the soap stars.

The series is being called “Flashback Friday” and will begin on Friday, April 3, 2020, and will feature Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos). It is expected to continue until Friday, May 22, 2020. However, that date could be extended if necessary.

GH Spoilers: Social Distancing

Soon after the coronavirus pandemic began sweeping through the United States, soaps one-by-one began stopping production. General Hospital was one of the first to halt filming, sending the cast and crew home to self-isolate.

When Will Filming Resume?

General Hospital spoilers reveal that at first, it was believed that the self-isolation would only last a few weeks. However, infection rates keep skyrocketing and President Donald Trump has extended the social distancing until April 30, 2020. Filming will not resume until the beginning of May at the very earliest. However, if COVID-19 continues to flame out of control, then the production halt could go on much longer.

General Hospital Spoilers: Other Soaps Getting Creative

Other soaps are getting creative to figure out how to not run out of new episodes, both in America and the UK. The Young and the Restless will be airing classic episodes soon. As for Days of Our Lives, those fans don’t have to worry because they film several months in advance.

In the UK, they have cut soap broadcasting down to 2 to 3 days a week, which will allow new episodes to be aired for several months. Nobody knows how long coronavirus is going to continue being a threat. These decisions are being made to try and make fans happy while keeping the cast and crew safe.

Are you looking forward to seeing old episodes of General Hospital, along with an introduction by one of the stars?

I think it is a great idea so we can have new episodes for longer. I do wish that the VERY FIRST few episodes should be run so we all can understand where it all started. Seeing the first doctors and nurses will show that GH has come a long way! Dr. Steve Hardy, Nurse Jessie Brewer, even when the Quartermain’s first showed up; Edward, Lila. A background such as this would be wonderful!

Sure, as long as they are uplifting, like Nurses Ball epis. If they are recent crappy ones I’m tuning out and watching something online.
