When Is Sofia Mattsson Heading To Days?

SoapSteph’s Daytime Dish, written by former Soap Opera Digest (SOD) Editorial Director Stephanie Sloane, broke the news about Sofia Mattsson’s new daytime drama gig.

A photo was shared via the newsletter of the actress posing outside of her DOOL dressing room. With that said, the Peacock soap is keeping Mattsson’s role, hush-hush for now.

It’s important to note that as Days of Our Lives tapes several months ahead of broadcast, fans can expect to see Sofia in her new role sometime in early 2027.

Mattsson was a fan favorite on General Hospital, entering the canvas in 2018.

She was first introduced as a con woman, who was found by Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to pose as Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) long-lost daughter.

Over the years, Sasha turned into a heroine, beating a drug addiction and finally becoming a mother to a beautiful baby girl.

Mattson exited the GH canvas in July 2025 after Sasha’s newborn daughter, Daisy Gilmore (Brenden and Evelyn Beimford), was being stalked by someone unknown (although fans knew the perpetrator was Willow Cain – Katelyn MacMullen).

With Daisy’s father, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), blessing, Sasha left town to stay at a secret location with her parents, Holly Sutton (Emma Samms) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers). 

Upon her departure, Mattsson told TV Insider, “I’ve had such a great time, but I’m also excited for a new chapter and to continue my acting journey in new projects.”

While many General Hospital fans were hoping Mattsson would return to the ABC soap to reprise the Sasha Gilmore role, it looks like this might be happening anytime soon.

However, that doesn’t mean Sasha can’t return, and a recast won’t take her place, so only time will tell.
