Daytime Drama News: Soap Opera Ratings Are In

For households, CBS’s The Young and the Restless was No. 1 with a 2.39 rating and its sister show The Bold and the Beautiful came in second place with a 2.05 rating.

ABC’s sole daytime drama General Hospital was behind B&B with a 1.59 rating and NBC’s Days of our Lives came in fourth with a 1.20 rating.

How do the ratings translate into actual viewers? Each ratings point equals 1.210 million viewers so let’s do the math.

Daytime Drama News: The Young and the Restless Came In First Place

CBS’s Y&R had 2.9 million viewers according to the ratings numbers while B&B had 2.48 million viewers. In contrast, GH had 1.92 million viewers, and DOOL counted 1.45 million viewers.

To break it down further, for the demographic of women aged 18-49, the one that advertisers love, the rankings overall were similar. That means that Y&R was first with .47, GH was second with .42, B&B was third with .38, and DOOL was fourth with .34.

Keep in mind that there were holiday preemptions during the last week of the December 2020.

Daytime Drama News: What Happened in Daytime Last Week?

Last week on The Young and the Restless the much-anticipated Shey wedding finally took place. The nuptials between Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) went off without a major hitch at Society despite Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) lurking in the background.

Over on The Bold and the Beautiful the same worn out record played between Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). For the umpteenth time Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) was played for a fool by these two lusty individuals and they argued whether or not to tell her. Things got complicated when Steffy learned she’s pregnant setting off yet another who’s the daddy scenario– Liam or Dr. Finn (Tanner Novlan)?

Meanwhile, on GH the big news continued to be the MIA status of Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). And on Days of our Lives Lani Price (Sal Stowers) and Eli Price (Lamon Archey) finally had twins who they named Carver and Jules after their grandparents.
