As 2024 slowly winds to an end, it’s natural to reflect on the past 12 months and all the tremendous things that have happened in the land of daytime drama.
While the adults tend to take center stage in soapy storylines, it’s often the younger cast members that steal the show. Below is a review of some of 2024’s best daytime drama performances from the younger actors/actresses.
The Bold and the Beautiful – Henry Joseph Samiri – Douglas Forrester
The Bold and the Beautiful’s (B&B) Douglas Forrester isn’t only cute, smart, and charming, he’s never afraid to get mixed up in the drama, especially when it involves his “legal” mother, Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and his father, Thomas Forrester Matthew Atkinson.
While he wasn’t in L.A. for too long in 2024, Henry Joseph Samiri is clearly an old pro at this soap stuff and continues to delight fans whenever Douglas shows up on the canvas.
General Hospital – Gary James Fuller – James West
General Hospital’s (GH) Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) certainly has her hands full juggling a busy career and raising three kids. While all of them have fun and unique personalities, James West, Maxie’s only son, is simply a joy to watch on canvas.
Young actor, Gary James Fuller, not only offers comedic relief but is quick with his lines when it comes to those snappy comebacks!
James dived, headfirst, into the drama in 2024, being the very reason that bridged the gap between Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) and his biological father, Mac Scorpio (John J. York).
He also happened to be in the right place at the right time to hear about Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) laying a kiss on her uncle-in-law Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) but managed to not tell the right person in Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth).
Either way, fans always look forward to seeing Gary’s daytime drama star shine bright whenever he hits GH scenes.
General Hospital – Jophielle Love – Violet Finn
GH’s Violet Finn may have left town this year, but the memories she made before she exited, live on in the hearts of every fan. The character was smart, sweet, charming, and strong-willed (in the best possible way).
Jophielle Love earns a spot on this list for each and every scene she had in 2024, as this year proved to be a challenging one for Violet.
She not only lost her beloved grandfather, Gregory Chase (Gregory Harrison), but had to deal with her father’s, Dr. Hamilton Finn’s (Michael Easton) addiction issues, school problems, and having to leave Port Charles for a ‘fresh start’ with her dad in Seattle.
All the goodbye scenes during Violet’s/Jophielle’s last day in the Quartermaine mansion were tear-jerkers; however, there was something very special about her goodbye with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot).
Fans could literally see Tracy’s often hardened heart melt as Violet bravely turned forward, entering a new chapter in her life as she walked out the Q’s door. Here’s hoping she comes back to PC to visit very soon!
General Hospital – Francis Carr – Rocco Falconeri
Speaking of hard years, Rocco Falconeri has had a tough one. From his half-sister Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) disappearing with her biological father, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) to nearly losing his mom, Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins), to actually losing his pseudo-stepmother, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) – Rocco has been through a roller coaster of emotions in 2024, and Francis Carr has simply nailed each and every scene he’s been in.
His reaction to Sam’s passing, not to mention his speech at her funeral, was flawless. Francis is a fine example of why the Daytime Emmys would re-add a category for Outstanding Young Performer.
The Young and the Restless – Sienna Mercuri – Katie Abbott
Katie Abbott took a giant leap into storylines this year when she returned from boarding school and wasn’t overly thrilled to learn about the new half-sister she acquired in Claire Newman (Hayley Erin).
Fans could sense the young tween was struggling with change in her life, and Sienna Mercuri flawlessly presented a good kid, who had conflicted emotions about the world around her, which she could not control.
Katie was brittle to Claire at first, but slowly came around, mirroring a lot of her father and mother’s mannerisms during the entire arc.
While Katie is fine with Claire now, Sienna continues to show off her soap opera talents, as her character (nicely) challenges the adults around her. She is Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) daughter, right?

I love Tracy Quartermaine! I may not like everything the writers are trying to sell us on, but Tracy has mellowed with how all the younger kids have made a huge impact on her life. Does anyone else agree with me.
Her straightforward conversation she had with Jason was a hoot! It was all true, but accepting him as he is!
I Love, Love. Love Tracy!! Tracy has a comedic way about her, we can see just how much she loves the the younger children!! What I love about her is she’s not that horrible person she use to be, plus she’s Beautiful, love her hair!! Tracy treats each person different, and she listens first then gives whomever her advice!! I would have loved to have seen her and Gregory together, but for some reason they killed him off which really upset me!! Those two would have made a great couple!! I could go on and on about her, but if you’ve watch GH and knew the Old Tracy then you could say WOW how much she has changed!! We would love to see a romance for her so just maybe the writers could find someone who’s interested in her, and not her Money!! Tracy should be nominated for a Day Time Emmy!!
