Former Daytime Actors Land Exciting New Gigs

Former daytime actors are keeping themselves busy these days. Alums from sudsers like “General Hospital,” Guiding Light,” “Santa Barbara,” and “The Young and the Restless” have landed new gigs in a new TV series, a reality show, the sequel of a blockbuster film, and a new movie on Amazon Prime.

Guiding Light’s Ian Ziering

Ian Ziering is hosting another revived series following the successful reboot of the famous show “BH90210.” The “Guiding Light” alum is hosting “The Food Network,” which premiered its latest season on December 23. The show was originally called “Food Network Challenge,” which debuted in 2005 as a special episode and then turned into a series until 2011.

The show tasks bakers to create edible art with a pop culture theme. The first episode was about creating A Christmas story inspired cupcakes while the second episode will ask the contestants to create winter sports cakes. Upcoming episodes will include themes about “Back to the Future,” “Pokémon,” “Monopoly,” and “The Wizard of Oz.” $10,000 await the winners.

Former General Hospital star Claire Coffee

“General Hospital” alum Claire Coffee stars in the pilot episode of the series “Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector,” which is set to air on January 10, 2020. The show is based on the book “The Bone Collector,” which was turned into a film starring Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie. The story focuses on Lincoln Rhyme, an NYPD forensic genius who became paralyzed while investigating The Bone Collector, a serial killer who then disappeared. When the latter reemerged, Lincoln enlisted the help of Amelia to help him find the serial killer.

The Young and the Restless’ McKenna Grace

McKenna Grace, who played Faith Newman on “The Young and the Restless,” stars in Troop Zero as Christmas Flint. Set in the year 1977, her character dreams of going to outer space. She joins a competition along with a team of fellow misfits to win a prize, which is to be on a recording sent to space. Other cast members include Viola Davis, Allison Janney, and Mike Epps. The movie, which was penned by Lucy Alibar and directed by Bert & Bertie, will air on January 17, 2020, on Amazon Prime.

Robin Wright Reprises Role On Wonder Woman 1984

Robin Wright will return as aunt Antiope on “Wonder Woman 1984.” The superheroine, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) will face new enemies, Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig). Chris Pine will also reprise his role as Steve Trevor on the movie that’s set to premiere on June 5, 2020.
