General Hospital News: Chad Duell Left The Show On His ‘Own Terms’General Hospital news says that sometimes, you just need to set the record straight. And that’s exactly what Chad Duell did when he clarified that he left the hit ABC soap on his own terms. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.

Chad Duell Left The Show On His ‘Own Terms’

The actor, who was best known for his role as Michael Corinthos, made it clear that he wasn’t fired from the show or that he was unhappy with his character’s storylines before he left.

Instead, it’s because as an actor and a creative person, he was just feeling very stagnant in the role, and that’s not a bad thing at all.

When he left the show in 2025, Chad hinted at the time that he wanted to do more theater work and perhaps dip his toes in the primetime television world, too. Now, that wasn’t to say that he was done with the soap industry, but just needed to take a break from it.

Of course, many GH fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media.

Some even commented with, “I know exactly where Chad is coming from, I did the same thing. There is something so powerful leaving on your own terms. If he wants to come back to GH in the future and they are open to it, there’s a lot of possibilities to explore.”

What’s Next For Chad Duell?

Another critic wrote, “Good for him. It’s so hard to leave your comfort zone. I think that was really brave of him. GH took Michael in a different direction and Rory is great as dark Michael but before that, Chad did a terrific job.”

And then there was this comment as well: “Love Chad but I like the new guy in the role better. I hope they keep him, even if Chad wants to come back. Sorry but Rory is killing it.”

“Chad was lucky he could leave because he was feeling stagnant and not creative anymore. Most of us feel that way in our everyday jobs but still have to show up.
