Emme Rylan, the last actress to play Lulu, recently hopped on social media and not only confirmed that yes, GH was recasting the fan favorite character, but that she was not returning to the show.

TV Insider reported on Monday, August 5 that GH placed a casting call for “Lauren”, a blonde, white female around the ages of 34 to 40 years old.
The character is described as dynamic, fiery, and beautiful who has overcome some “challenging circumstances”, but is now stronger, and is more determined than ever.
The description had “Lulu Spencer” written all over it. While the casting call’s character was named Lauren (not Lulu) it’s not unusual for soaps to place fake names for characters to keep fans wondering.

GH Spoilers: Emme Rylan’s Confirms All On IG Story Post
Reposting an article with her face on it from ABC Soaps In Depth on her IG Story, which speculated on the TV Insider Lulu recast report, Emme Rylan added the below comment to the post:
“Yes it is true. GH has decided to recast Lulu. Although I’m very disappointed with their choice, I am glad to finally have closure. (And thank goodness JH brought all of you people into my life! Love you guys!)”
Rylan made it no secret that she was open to returning to the show if Lulu ever “woke up” from her coma. Sadly, this won’t be the case now.
Ms. Spencer and Rylan exited storylines in 2020 after an explosion at the Floating Rib caused the condition. Rylan played Lulu from 2013 to 2020.

Why? Why? Why will they not bring back Emme Ryland we have the last Lucky coming back, why not the LuLu character. Emme was great in the role. Sometimes I feel like the show owes an explanation to the fans as to why some people are not asked back and why some like Finn are gone. The Finn storyline still gets to me it just did not seem logical.
Please bring LuLu Spencer back to General Hospital. she is a very excellent actress and I adore her so please don’t recast her with some bimbo.

Been waiting so long for Emme Rylan to return. Hate all the recasts!!! Especially when the actress voiced she was eager to return to GH. She is loved & missed very much. Why don’t the writers & those who cast parts, Listen to the fans?
O am so sick of all these new recast. I thought I would never say this but I am so sick of gh. Their story lines are tooooo long. The story with Sonny has been going on for months I loved lulu now your replacing her I can’t stand Molly and Kristina You show is going down the tubes. I can almost guarantee your ratings have dropped Get your act together or your show will be a thing of the past. Get Carly and Sonny back together and Jason back with Sonny

I don’t usually post but this is a big disappointment. Emme Rylan is Lulu and no one else will do!
Big mistake to recast the role. Very, very disappointed in GH’s choices lately.
That’s stupid! She was willing and able, she knows the character and all her relationships, and had great chemistry with Dominic (Dante) and others. It makes no sense, but GH hasn’t made too much sense lately, so I shouldn’t be surprised!
I can’t understand why the writers of GH do not listen to the fans. We, as the viewers, are the ones responsible for the ratings to keep GH from being cancelled. Please open your eyes & ears & read the comments, give us what we ask for. It’s really not that hard!
Lets hope they a better job recasting her than they did with Molly! I have a couple of great suggestions, but I know they aren’t listening! Alexa Havins (Babe Chandler, AMC) would be PERFECT! Has the same basic look and is a great actress. Or, what about Gina Tognoni? She’s an awesome, Emmy winning actress, and when her hair is blonde, she looks the part, too.
As someone who started watching GH from day one since the COVID debacle with Ingo Rademaker and Steve Burton, plus replacing main characters and raising past main characters from the dead, GH is not the same place. I tape it and read these updates but seldom watch the tapes as the incentive to be engaged appears to be over. Emme Ryan played the part well and one might guess that changes in the production group, the writers , etc formed a new click in her absence. They did not consider the viewers just the money and “office politics”. Emme, you were great and the people who really count will miss you and remember you. You are “LuLu”!
We want Emme back , she is Lulu . And we want her with Dante. We wanted Tyler back as Nicholas ( it may have saved his live) but we learned to love the new Nicholas (Marcus) and then they got rid of him !! What the heck ! Now it is true that I was upset about the Kristina swap but this new Kristina is an awesome actress ! But why keep changing for no reason?
Emme Rylan really took to the role after Julie left the role of Lulu. Emme has been waiting for that call to say she’s waking up from the coma for over 4 years. What a jerk-off move General Hospital is doing. I can’t believe they had her hopes up for 4 years that she had a job and they treated her like crap. Emme Rylan IS LULU.
Emme Rylan was great as Lulu. Dropping her is a mistake especially since she wants to come back. Why are the bosses making all these changes? I have Been watching GH forever and things are definitely going downhill. Think it over And bring back Emme!

I agree. Enough with the recasting! U can’t bring Lucky original actor back without Rylan. She was amazing as Lulu for 8 years. I’ve been Watching GH since I was a teenager back in 70’s. Do u not recall Rylan as a prisoner of Cassadine when she was pregnant. That entire storyline of returning to Cassadine Spencer war was excellent and she was amazing too!! Storylines r super slow also and canceling all those exciting summer big screen events like fires etc has made the soap boring. They use lack of funds as an excuse! We have high tech now. Use digital special effects! There is no excuse. I miss the exciting on the edge of your seat days of GH!! Sad
