General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) has just posted the shocking and sad news of the passing of alum Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine).

His post reads: “It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Tyler Christopher. Tyler passed away this morning following a cardiac event in his San Diego apartment.”
Benard added “Tyler was a truly talented individual that lit up the screen in every scene he performed and relished bringing joy to his loyal fans through his acting.
Tyler was a sweet soul and wonderful friend to all of those who knew him. Tyler was an advocate for better mental health and substance use treatment who openly spoke about his struggles with bipolar depression and alcohol. We are beyond devastated by the loss of our dear friend and pray for his children and his father.”

Christopher was also on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives, and in total his career netted him five Daytime Emmy nominations over the course of his career.

Christopher played the dark and haunted character of Nikolas Cassadine on GH, from 1996 to 2016. He played Stefan DiMera on Days of Our Lives from 2018 to 2019.

In recent years Christopher has been open about his substance abuse struggles and in 2019 he was placed under the guardianship of his sister Susan Asmo Baker.
According to People, in 2018 he married former ESPN reporter Brienne Pedigo and they divorced in 2021 following the birth of two children, Greysun James Christopher and Boheme Christopher.
The GH star was married to Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria from 2002 to 2004.

GH Spoilers: Tyler Christopher RIP
The outlet reports that “Christopher was first placed under his sister’s guardianship during a bout of alcohol withdrawal. He fell, hit his head and underwent life-saving surgery after internal bleeding. While Christopher was hospitalized, his sister filed for guardianship.”
However, Christopher alleged in court documents that his sister “used up to $40,000 of finances that should have been for his guardianship to pay off her own credit cards and buy her son a laptop, among other things. Asmo Baker denied the allegations.”
This May Christopher was arrested at the Hollywood Burbank Airport for public intoxication and later released on $250 bail.

Ooh no so sad and shocked of seeing this terrible thing of news heard of Tyler Christopher passing and so sorry for his family and a terrible lost a such good man and all he has gone through in life was such a good wonderful kind soak if a person and made me love watching him when he was on gh was such a great actor made you believe and felt so bad ,so young that happened to such good person and should not talked about his mistakes happened in his life but to speak of his greatest things he has done and made so many people so happy .a terrible loss and hope he should be given respect and notice he worked ABC and other networks should give him honor and not gossip he will always be remembered for being nickolas cassadine at general hostipal ,us big fans will never forget him and sad and mad abc loss him to a semi actor they have now !
Did abc /gh forget that maxie on gh birthday is Halloween no one celebrates it any more is sad and she going back with her frist love .
I’m so devastated by the loss of Tyler Christopher..He was an amazing actor..I remember when he first joined Gh as a teenager and was so hoping he was going to come back to the role he created and made his..Watched him on State of Mind w/Maurice Bernard and he was such a kind hearted person who was so open about the demons he faced..And after seeing him on the GH for over 10 years almost every day he felt like family to me..You will be missed by so many who loved you !! He must have been deeply troubled. Bi-polar is an invidious disease that takes too many people way too young. Just the fact that his sister got guardianship while he was married is a big red flag .
I am very sad he was such a vibrant part of GH I thought he was the best nickolas prays going up for his family RIP Tyler you will be sorely missed
