General Hospital spoilers say that there’s a new theory floating around about who might have shot Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison), and you won’t believe who it is. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Did Sam Shoot Drew?
There’s heavy speculation that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) might have been the one who attempted to end Drew’s life once and for all. Sure, that might sound like a stretch for some fans, but others are in total belief when it comes to this theory.
Now, no one knows if that’s certain, but then again, this is a soap, right? We’ve seen crazier things happen over the years in this fictional town of Port Charles.
Currently, there are rumors suggesting that actress Kelly Monaco might be returning to General Hospital on a two-year contract to reprise her role as Sam McCall. If she does come back, that is going to answer a lot of questions about what might have happened the night that Drew was almost killed.
Now, no one knows why Sam would even be in the Quartermaine mansion or why she would have access to Edward’s firearms, but these are just a few of the questions that still need answers. Plus, Drew and Sam do have history and unresolved tension between them.
Is Kelly Monaco Coming Back To The Soap?
Some eagle-eyed General Hospital fans say that Kelly was spotted secretly filming scenes on the set of the show. If that turns out to be true, there’s no doubt that General Hospital is going to start off 2026 with quite the bang. This is going to be the surprise that no one saw coming!
But whether or not she comes back alive or in ghost-like form is what everyone wants to know and both are a very strong possibility.
Now, whether or not Kelly does return to General Hospital remains to be seen. So far the actress herself has not made any comments about the matter just yet.

Personally I wouldn’t want the Sam character (even if a recast), return to PC and have to go to jail for attempting to kill Drew. Plus, if it were Sam, Drew would be dead and gone – case closed. There have been so many rumors about a Sam return to canvas with no one but TPTB and whomever may play the character know. When KM left GH under the circumstances she did, I have always felt there was more to the story that wasn’t being revealed. Never paid attention to the rumor mill stories being told. It would be nice for the character to return to canvas as she does have two children who need her as Drew is making their lives miserable. A Sam return to canvas would be a good and unexpected Cristmas/New Years’ twist.
I’m sick of this BS !!!! Just bring Sam back already!!!!
I can’t imagine her shooting him, no matter how ticked she’d be by his behavior. That’s her child’s father, and unless it’s self defense, or in defense of someone else, I don’t think she would. I can see her coming back and kicking his butt, and putting him in his place, though. It would be awesome and I’d LOVE to see that!
If Ace were aged enough to kick Drew’s backside it would be wonderful.. Don’t care who does the deed, but it definitely needs to be done.
