The Emmy-winning comedian is making a splash in daytime television with major guest appearances on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives.

John Oliver, host of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, made a major announcement on the June 28 episode of his talk show.

It sounds like he’s slated to appear on both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives, and CTS has all the exciting details about this story below.

  • Oliver also revealed he has already filmed multiple Days of Our Lives episodes that will air on August 11, 12, and 14.
  • A preview image showed Oliver in a dark suit alongside heavily armed S.W.A.T.-style officers, teasing a mysterious and action-packed storyline.

  • Valentini praised Oliver’s professionalism on set, while Oliver called appearing on General Hospital “a true honor” and said he couldn’t have hoped for a better experience.

Who, What, & When!

Oliver noted that he’s scheduled to appear on General Hospital the week of June 29 and has since taped a week of episodes on Days of Our Lives that is coming later this summer.

As per an ABC press release, Oliver will be in a ‘significant guest role’ on General Hospital, and his shows will air on Thursday July 2, through to Monday, July 6.

The Emmy-award-winning comedian noted that he didn’t want to ‘spill anything’ about his Port Charles visit.

Still, he did reveal a photo of himself, dressed in a suit with a tie, hair completely dyed black, and surrounded by men in S.W.A.T.-like black uniforms and guns.

Meanwhile, Days fans can gear up to see Oliver in the land of Salem on August 11, 12, and 14.

What Got The Ball Rolling

During the March 8 episode of his HBO talk show, Oliver talked to Stephen A. Smith, who plays the recurring General Hospital character, Brick, Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) trusted associate.

Talking about Smith’s role on GH, Oliver pleaded that he wanted to be cast in a soap. “Call me, soaps! I am available, I’m willing to travel, and I want this more than you could understand.”

Frank Valentini, General Hospital’s executive producer, had this to say about Oliver’s appearance on GH:

“When John Oliver publicly threw down the gauntlet and said he wanted to appear on a soap, we didn’t hesitate for a second.”

Valentini went on to say, “He was everything you’d hope he’d be: prepared, professional, funny, and genuinely kind to everyone on set.”

Valentini wrapped up with, “He plays an integral character in the story, and I can’t wait for fans to see who he crosses paths with in Port Charles.”

Oliver also noted in a statement that, “General Hospital was everything I hoped it would be. It’s a true honor to be a small stain on the history of this illustrious show.”
