General Hospital Comings & Goings: GH Casting Young Alexis Davis

General Hospital spoilers tease that thanks to an insider leak, General Hospital is casting a young Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) for flashback scenes with her parents. It sounds like Alexis will be going into some extensive psychotherapy, likely of the Freudian kind. Will the root of her problems finally be revealed?

General Hospital Spoilers – Alexis Davis’ Parents Were Mikkos Cassadine And Kristin Bergman

Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall when Alexis first came to Port Charles, her half-brother Stefan Cassadine (Stephen Nichols) and nephew Nikolas Cassadine (then sixteen, and played by Tyler Christopher, now Marcus Coloma) came at around the same time.

General Hospital spoilers reveal Alexis’ real name was Natasha Cassadine and she changed her name. She had a younger sister named Kristina Cassadine (Jaime Ray Newman) who sadly was killed as the result of an explosion. Her daughter Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) was named after her late sister. Mikkos Cassadine (John Colicos) had a long term affair with Kristin Bergman (Mia Martin, in flashbacks airing in 2002) who was a Swedish opera singer.

The two sisters were just little girls when a jealous Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) had their mother killed before their eyes – with the dagger that Alexis would later have held to her own throat by her ex-husband Julian Jerome (William DeVry) under duress from his older sister Olivia Jerome (Tonja Walker).

GH recaps show Stefan, who was much older than Natasha and Kristina, raised them and watched out for them, as he did Nikolas. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) brought Alexis many family mementoes as her half-brother, before he found out he wasn’t really a Cassadine. One of them was the aforementioned dagger, and another was her mother’s watch, which in spite of her attempts to get it repaired, stayed stopped on the same time. Perhaps it stopped at the time that her mother drew her last breath!

GH Spoilers – Too Many Deaths In Alexis Davis’ Life, Going Back So Many Years

Alexis has dealt with deaths her whole life, starting with her mother’s being killed right in front of her. Then her sister Kristina died in front of her too, after the explosion of a warehouse that belonged to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). Alexis was not able to save Kristina, although she saw the explosion. More recently, her boyfriend Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) died in her bed as the result of a drug overdose and her ex-husband and father of her first daughter, Samantha McCall (Kelly Monaco) died and Sonny, the father of her second daughter Kristina died with him – or so it is presumed! Neil’s death seemed to be the tipping point – or perhaps that should be the tippling point!

It pushed Alexis over the edge and off the wagon, and she began drinking again. Interventions did not help, although Valentin was able to distract her by playing a card game with her that particular evening. With Alexis reliving her childhood, it seems obvious that her daughters have banded together to not just get her into Alcoholics Anonymous again, but into intensive psychotherapy to really get at the root of her problems. In any addiction, if it is driven by emotional problems or bad memories that is the best approach, although the addictive qualities of the drug or drink of choice is always a factor as well!
