General Hospital Delivers Soapy Courtroom Goodness At Nina’s Trial

General Hospital finally did something oh-so-right with its year-long Nixon Falls story when it got all the main players (except Phyllis Caulfield) into a courtroom and gave us the messy courtroom drama we watch soaps for (among other things).

Fans were shocked, bored, and disappointed when Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) finally returned from his sojourn on the Pennsylvania side of the river to find Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) and his wife, Carly (Laura Wright), ready to make love in his bed after just marrying. Sonny didn’t even realize what he was walking into and the fact that Carly and Sonny never made it into bed made us wonder if GH even realized it is a soap opera.

But then we got to watch the slow burn with Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Sonny and not Nina and Mike and the whole Nixon Falls story started to make sense. Then, we got to watch dumbass Michael (Chad Duell) be as in-character as possible when he bribed a Pennsylvania politician to charge Nina with identity theft, which is not a thing just because you don’t tell an amnesiac his identity when he says he doesn’t want to know his identity, And things started getting good.

GH Spoilers – Withering Willow Tait Does Them All In

We knew there had to be a point to Willow Tait (Katelynn MacMullen) learning that Nina and Sonny fell in love during the months he lived as Mike the Bartender at the Tan-O. And we are glad we got the payoff to that within weeks as our favorite loudmouth lawyer, Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner), badgered Willow on the witness stand (thanks to a tip from his Schnitzel) until she melted like the hot mess puddle of false self-righteousness she is and told the court that there was “love” between Nina and Sonny in Nixon Falls.

The reaction shots on General Hospital were priceless and stuff of a thousand Twitter memes that can have ammunition for years. Michael’s “Duh, I am a dumbass” look, Carly’s “Are you f*&^%ing kidding me?” look, and Sonny’s “Who me? I’m not Sonny. Where’s Sonny?” look were absolute classics and you couldn’t help but rewind, laugh, and cheer. That’s what we want from our soaps and GH delivered for three days straight.

Michael’s hair went wild when he punched Scott and created another General Hospital meme that will live on in Twitter eternity. Then, Nina told Willow where she can put herself before Sonny just could NOT tell Carly that he didn’t love Nina, dodging her question over and over. And we were here for it.
