General Hospital (GH) Spoilers: Roger Howarth Talks About Franco’s Return

Roger HowarthGeneral Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Roger Howarth is now portraying the character Austin Gatlin-Holt on ABC sudser. Before this he played Franco Baldwin and some hardcore GH fans would love to see him back in that role even though Franco is deceased. What does Howarth think about this?

General Hospital Spoilers – Roger Howarth Played Franco Baldwin

GH fans have seen Howarth in several character iterations. When he joined GH it was as Todd Manning the character he played on One Life to Live. That show was cancelled and his character then migrated to Port Charles, New York.

There were some behind the scenes legal technicalities that forced the show to stop using the name and character of Todd Manning but luckily Howarth’s acting services were retained.

Thus, after Todd Manning disappeared, Howarth came back to town in the role of Franco, a role that was originally crafted for the actual Franco, who came and went without making a lasting daytime impression.

GH spoilers – Franco Baldwin Is No More

Eventually, Franco the character ran his course and was summarily killed off by the now dead serial killer psycho Peter August (Wes Ramsey). Howarth is a fan fave and it made all the sense in the world to bring him back once again, this time as good guy (we think) Austin. Austin sits on a branch of the Quartermaine family tree and he came to town to claim his birthright. Luckily he kept his day job.

Austin found that taking on the Quartermaine’s was a full time, thankless and frankly dirty task. He tangled with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) and eventually decided to jump out of the shark infested waters of his ancestral pool and concentrate of being a doctor. And maybe wooing Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms).

General Hospital Spoilers – What Happens Next In Port Charles, New York?

Howarth attended a recent fan event and when a fan asked him about the idea of Franco being alive, he had an interesting answer.

According to Soap Hub he said, “That’d be great, [unlikely] I really, really enjoyed playing Franco. I was really, really lucky to be part of [that story].” He then segued into a comparison of his old character and his new character by saying that he loved playing Franco, and it was akin to his feelings for a 1967 Chevy Camaro he owned and also gave up: “I loved that car.” In other words, today Howarth is driving a new model and we’re all along as he treats us to a fabulous ride.
