General Hospital Kelly Monaco Opens Up About Her Favorite GH Storyline

While there’s no doubt that General Hospital Sam has seen plenty of ups and downs in the last 15 years, there are some storylines that her portrayer Kelly Monaco loves more than others. In fact, the General Hospital actress recently opened up about her favorite storyline and how it has helped shape her character throughout the years.

Speaking to Soaps She Knows, Kelly says the drama surrounding Sam and Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) child remains one of her favorite storylines. And that’s not because of what happened, but because of all the emotions that were involved. Because some scenes were so difficult, it helped push her to be a better actress.

Kelly told the publication, “They did not like this little hussy coming in and messing with their Sonny and Carly, that’s for sure! It really could have been a ticket to take me out of town, but something beautiful happened within that stuff, and I don’t think we would have had Jason and Sam if we hadn’t had the Sonny [storyline].”

From the very start Kelly knew that her character would have some sort of difficulty stepping in to Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny’s world, especially with the huge fanbase they have. But at the same time, it did help make Sam the woman that she is today.

Reflecting on the death of Sam and Sonny’s child, Kelly added, “I was in a very similar situation and I don’t know if I ever had an outlet for my feelings and sadness. I think so many people connected to that storyline and it really changed the course of who Sam McCall was.”
