General Hospital Spoilers – Made A Big Mistake

First, we still do not know why GH felt the need to kill off Franco Baldwin. Rumor has it, the show wanted to bring Todd Manning back, but when that didn’t work, they created a brand-new role that had potential at one point, but who fizzled out really fast. He was a Quartermaine who just wanted what he felt he was entitled to, but gave up on it real fast and then sort of faded into the background.

Austin (Roger Howarth) could have been a hard-edged Q. He could have had autism and been successfully functioning like so many adults on the spectrum do. It looks like things were leading there, but then GH changed its mind again.

Since Peter August (Wes Ramsey) died and Austin learned that Maxie Jones had been lying to him from the start, we hardly see either one of them and the chemistry just is not there. He does have chemistry with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), but GH decided it would be Austin and Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and ignored another potential gold pairing just to give Britt to some macho cowboy who disrespects her. Fans have raved out Austin and Britt and General Hospital puts its proverbial hands over its ears and refuses to listen.

Austin is now the second man to fall for Maxie after seeing everything between her legs while delivering her baby on the side of the road. If that is not weird, we are not sure what is. How does that make for romance? It didn’t with Peter and it doesn’t with Austin. Instead, the pairing is awkward and boring and makes us want to fast forward.

When a couple is not working after a year, it’s time to nix that pairing and stop trying to force it down fans’ throats. That is what is happening with Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), and it was all from some misguided decision to kill Franco Baldwin. When a soap makes a mistake, the sooner it admits the mistake and changes course, the better off everyone will be.
