“The Reveal” centers on a young couple who will be played by Lanier and McClellan. In the film, the pair will attend their new-age hippies’ gender reveal party. But the event will eventually reveal the couple’s own issues and conflict within their relationship.
Lanier and McClellan likened the upcoming movie to the likes of “The 40-Year Old Virgin,” ‘Bridesmaids,” “Knocked Up,” and ‘Wedding Crashers.” “The Reveal,” which the couple described as a short film that’s a darkly humorous comedy, has a potential to become a full length feature if Lanier and McClellan can find the right backers.
They have turned to Indiegogo to raise money to fund the film at a set budget of $37,500. Those who decide to donate will receive fabulous perks ranging between producer credit, signed photos by Sarpy, lunch with Lanier, and a copy of the film. The funds raised will be sued to buy set pieces, props, and the necessary equipment to film and edit the movie. It will also cover the expenses to pay the crew and film festival submissions.
They plan to start shooting in August, so they can submit the movie to different independent film festivals like Sundance. Lanier said, “We are really counting on everybody to share, tweet, contribute where they can. I know money is tight for a lot of people and I’ve been there and completely understand. If you can’t contribute financially, we’re asking everyone to share the link with their friends to help us get the word out.”
Lanier landed her first movie role in 2009 as Lisa at “The Effects of Tragedy.” In 2012, she was cast on “Army Wives,” as Penny. She appeared in “NCIS” and “General Hospital” as Young Patricia Spencer for the show’s 52nd-anniversary storyline. She has been in a serious relationship with actor Morgan McClellan since 2015.
