General Hospital News: Denise Alexander Returns!

General Hospital spoilers tease that Denise Alexander, who played Dr. Lesley Webber on General Hospital, will return for the soap’s 56th Anniversary. General Hospital premiered on April 1, 1963 and Alexander, who played Laura Webber’s (Genie Francis) birth mother, will appear on the April 2 episode.

Lulu Falconeri (Emme Rylan), whose full name is “Lesley Lu” was named after her grandmother. Alexander still returns occasionally to reprise Dr. Lesley Webber, the last time was for Laura’s wedding to Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) on December 22nd, 2017.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she will appear in a gathering of family and friends that the late Dr. Gail Adamson (Susan Brown) requested as part of her will and final wishes. Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) will have invited the guests that Gail requested for the gathering.

General Hospital viewers will recall that when the will was read originally, there was to be a second part read in April, and this episode will be part of that.

Longtime General Hospital viewers will recall Dr. Lesley Webber and how Laura came to live with her. Lesley helped make history on General Hospital and in the soap opera world in general, when she debuted in March of 1972 as one of the very first female doctors.

She was a cardiologist, and one of her first General Hospital patients was Florence Gray, who was suffering from ulcers she attributed to stress from her marriage to Professor Gordon Gray (Sherman Howard, Eric Server) which was falling apart.

Lesley referred her to General Hospital psychiatrist Dr. Peter Taylor (Craig Huebing) who she confided in about her husband’s affair some years ago with a student, who was revealed as Lesley. Florence said that the student became pregnant but that the baby died.

General Hospital Spoilers – Lesley Webber Never Forgot Her Baby

Peter told Lesley about the baby (this was long before confidentiality laws came into being). Gordon found out that Lesley was working at GH and came to win her back, but she sent him back to work things out with his wife.

However, Lesley never forgot about her baby, and when she later married millionaire Cameron Faulkner (Don Matheson) she started investigating what happened to her baby, because she knew in her heart the baby wasn’t dead.

She found out Laura had been illegally adopted by the Vinings, who lived right there in Port Charles. Eventually Laura came to live with Lesley after many emotional and custody struggles.
