General Hospital alum Linda Cristal has passed away at the age of 89. She was in the long-running ABC soap for one year in the 80s and is credited as “Dimitra.” The actress also appeared in The Love Boat, The High Chaparral, Rawhide, Seven Sins, The Alamo, and many more. General Hospital Spoilers – Mexico’s Film Industry In The 1950s
The GH alum built an acting career during the 1950s in Mexico’s film industry. She ended up snagging an English-speaking role in 1956 when she was cast in Comanche, which was directed by George Sherman. The movie starred Dana Andrews.
GH Spoilers – GH and The Love Boat
Cristal appeared in General Hospital in 1988 and according to IMDB, she is only credited as a woman named Dimitra. She appeared in 12 episodes during her time on the ABC soap opera. She also portrayed Elvira Monteverde in The Love Boat, Victoria Wilison in Rosse, and Consuelo Lopez in Fantasy Island.

Her first credited role was in 1952 and is listed as being Cuando Levanta La Niebla. She portrayed Amiga de Silvia. The website notes that her role in that project was actually uncredited, but she appeared in it.
Through the years, Cristal would appear in several movies and TV shows and had quite an extensive acting resume. Some of these include The Magnificent Beast, The Perfect Furlough, Cry Tough, Legions Of The Nile, The Tab Hunter Show, Two Rode Together, Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, Iron Horse, Panic In The City, and Bonanza.
GH Spoilers – Alum’s Life and Death
According to the New York Post, Cristal was born in Argentina and lost both of her parents from carbon monoxide poisoning when she was just 13 years old. She studied voice and piano before marrying her first husband, Argentine actor Tito Gomez when she was 16. A few weeks later, the marriage was annulled, according to Australian site 9Celebrity. For a short time, she considered following in her female relatives’ footsteps and becoming a nun.
During a trip to Mexico, she was spotted by the son of Mexico’s president. Miguelito Aleman was a producer and cast Cristal in one of his movies. Later, she moved to Hollywood, which would make her an actress in three different countries.
After her annulled marriage, she tied the knot with Robert W. Champion. They divorced in 1959 and one year later she wed Yale Wexler, with whom she had two children. On Saturday, Cristal died in her sleep at her home in Beverly Hills. The death was reported to the New York Times by her son, Jordan Wexler.
